Tuks register maiden away win

The University of Pretoria recorded their first win on the road with a 4-2 victory over Golden Arrows in an Absa Premiership encounter at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Saturday.

Thabo Mnyamane scored a brace for the visitors while Atusaye Nyondo and Thabo Mosadi also got their names on the score sheet.

Bongi Ntuli opened the scoring for the hosts while Thanduyise Khuboni netted his sixth goal of the season.

AmaTuks had to do without the services of club captain Tebogo Monyai and striker Geofrey Massa due to suspension, but Steve Barker welcomed back Buhle Mkhwanazi who filled in for Monyai while Atusaye Nyondo started up-front alongside Mnyamane.

Rudolf Bester returned to the starting XI for Arrows while experienced duo Mzuvukile Tom and Siyanda Zwane had to settle for a place on the bench.

Arrows started the encounter with more urgency as they looked to bag three points in an attempt to climb off the foot of the table.

Ntuli gave the hosts the lead on the half-hour mark following a sustained spell of pressure.

Deon Hotto made a charging run down the right flank before playing in Ntuli who found the back of the net via the underside of the crossbar.

Tuks found the equaliser through Mnyamane eight minutes later.

The young striker who joined Tuks from varsity rivals NWU-Pukke at the start of the campaign ran onto a through ball by Raymond Monama before producing a superb finish with the outside of his foot from the edge of the area to bag his third goal of the campaign.

Mnyamane’s strike was AmaTuks first goal away from home this season.

Thabo Mosadi handed Tuks the lead with a composed finish in the 69^th minute.

The AmaTuks attacker latched onto a long-ball by Grant Kekana before skinning Arthur Bartman and sliding the ball into the back of the net to give the visitors the lead, 1-2.

Thanduyise Khuboni pulled the home side level in the 78^th minute from the penalty spot after Ronald Ketjijere brought down Ntlantla Zothwane inside the area, 2-2.

Nyondo though restored the visitors lead a mere minute later.

The Malawian marksman ran onto a long ball by Washington Arubi before chipping the ball over Bartman from an acute angle.

Mnyamane completed his brace in the 86^th minute with a cool finish after beating the offside trap.

The win moves AmaTuks up to 11^th while Arrows remain rooted to the bottom of the table.
