Diski Challange Saturday results

Mamelodi Sundowns and Bloemfontein Celtic topped their respective groups in the MultiChoice Diski Challenge after round four of games were played out at the University of Pretoria (Tuks) on Saturday.

Siwelele consolidated their position at the summit of Group A after edging out Kaizer Chiefs 1-0, whilst the Brazilians moved top of Group B after a 2-0 win over Chippa United.

There were also victories for Maritzburg United, Polokwane City, Orlando Pirates, SuperSport United, Free State Stars and Platinum Stars as all 16 teams were in action in front of an impressive fan turnout in the capital.

The day had started with the Team of Choice bagging their first win of the season - a 2-1 triumph over Ajax Cape Town. The side from KwaZulu-Natal enjoyed the better of the game and were full value for their win as goals from Sheldon Van Wyk and ?Menzi Chili gave them a 2-0 cushion inside the opening 28 minutes.

Noah Sadaoui did pull back a late consolation, but it was not enough as United held on.
Matsatsantsa, meanwhile, recorded their second successive win when they beat hosts University of Pretoria. 1-0 Thabani Mthembu scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot midway through the first half following a foul on Andile Fikizolo.

Polokwane also won for a second successive time as they shrugged off the challenge of Moroka Swallows 2-1.

Mothusi Gopane, a central figure for the Limpopo side, opened the scoring in the 18th minute, before Nduduzo Ngobese replied nine minutes from half time.
But a few seconds after the restart, Rise and Shine regained their lead when Gopane set up Sakhile Ngubo for a tap-in that proved to be the winner.

Elsewhere, the Buccaneers bounced back from defeat last week by sinking Mpumalanga Black Aces 1-0. First-team members like Tlou Segolela, Brighton Mhlongo, Khethokwakhe Masuku and Lehlohonolo Masuku all featured for the Bucs.
Segolela, who was captaining the team, netted the winner after 39 minutes.
The Brazilians then took full advantage of that loss by Aces with a fairly comfortable win over the Chilli Boys. Sundowns settled the tie with two first half goals from Ntandeyenkosi Ngubane and Khama Billiat.

Elsewhere, Tshegofatso Mabaso’s solitary strike guided Siwelele to a 1-0 scoreline over Amakhosi as the Free Staters consolidated their number one position.

Fellow provincial rivals, Stars, ousted Bidvest Wits 2-1 in another result, whilst Platinum Stars ensured AmaZulu's woeful campaign continued with a 2-0 triumph in a match that saw the Durbanites finish with nine men.
