Downs down Swallows

Mame Niang and Kudakwashe Mahachi scored in either half as Mamelodi Sundowns beat Moroka Swallows 2-0 at the Dobsonville Stadium.

Sundowns started with intent and were whipping in crosses from either side in a bid to pick out Mame Niang in the box but the Swallows defence wasn’t giving anything.
In the 12th minute Themba Zwane and Teko Modise combined well to unlock the Swallows defence but Modise’s shot was well read by the keeper.
A minute later Mario Booysens was close to scoring his first goal in Sundowns colours when the towering centerback got to the end of a Modise freekick.
Tebogo Langerman did well to slice through the Swallows defence in the 25th minute and between himself and Niang neither could get a clean shot of the ball.
In the 29th minute Captain Alje Schut’s shot was cleared off the line.
With less than five minutes to go before halftime ‘Mshishi’ and ‘The Navigator’ combined well in the Swallows box but Modise couldn’t keep his shot low enough.
The Brazilians were ahead as early as the 52nd minute through a Niang cool finish from a Ramahlwe Mphahlele assist.
Modise almost doubled Downs’ lead in the 61st minute but overcooked his shot.
Then on his debut Kudakwashe Mahachi netted Bafana Ba Style’s second to send the crowd into complete ecstacy and sealed the game.
