NFD accommodate the U23 side

All The National First Division (NFD) games starting from this weekend until 11 December have been suspended. This was done to accommodate the country’s national U23 side in their bid to qualify for the Summer Olympics.

The South Africa’s U23 will participate in the mini-tournament for African teams for a spot in 2012 Summer Olympics in London next year.

Speaking to the PSL site, PSL Acting CEO, Cambridge Mokanyane said

“Following the resolutions adopted at the Board of Governors meeting to do everything possible to assist the National U-23 team to qualify, the Executive Committee has agreed, on round robin basis, to suspend the National First Division league matches from 21 November until 11th December 2011.”

However if the national U23 team does not qualify for the next round, the fixtures of 9, 10 and 11 December 2011 will be reinstated.
