Jose Mourinho wants Frank Lampard.

Jose Mourinho is set to offer midfielder Esteban Granero to Chelsea as the Real Madrid boss raises the stakes in his bid to finally sign Frank Lampard.

Mourinho has tried to capture Lampard twice before – when he took charge at Inter Milan in 2008 and just last year he tried to snap up the England international.

Lampard was a key member of Mourinho’s team as the Portuguese coach won two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and two League Cups during his time at Stamford Bridge.
But the 33-year-old is not a guaranteed starter under current Chelsea chief Andre Villas-Boas and was left out of last week’s vital Champions League win over Valencia.
Villas-Boas preferred the look of a younger engine room and played Raul Meireles, Ramires and Oriol Romeu.

So Mourinho is hoping Villas-Boas will want 24-year-old Granero – a former Spain Under 21 international.

Granero is valued at around £6million and is not unknown to Premier league sides as Arsenal and Liverpool have been strongly linked with January moves for the player.
Mourinho is keen to add Lampard’s experience after his side were, once again, second best to Barcelona as the Catalans won the first Clasico of the season 3-1 on Saturday night.
