Pitso play down players movement.
Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane has quashed rumours about links to players making the rounds in the media and social networks.
With the January transfer window open Sundowns have been linked to several players, and Mosimane spoke out on this.
“We are aware of the rumours making rounds about us wanting to sign players left right and centre. We will not be making any wholesale changes, because the only thing we want to do is to strengthen certain key positions, where we feel we are thin”
“Some reports even link us to some foreign players.
This can’t be true because we have exhausted our foreign quota. We are in the market for a centre back and a natural left winger, because those are the positions we need to strengthen. We are not looking at bringing in any foreign players at this point”
Mosimane said the negotiations are going well for the players he and the technical team have identified to fill the two positions.
The coach didn’t divulge the names of the players as he feels that such actions might jeopardise the negotiations.
“Of course we can't reveal the names of the players we are after because, past experience has taught us that such action could compromise a possible deal. All I can say is that the players we have identified were carefully selected based on their abilities and talent”
“I’d love to bring back Ramahlwe Mphahlele, who is currently on loan at TUKS, as he can help us strengthen the defence. Apart from Rama, all the other players on loan will remain there until the end of the season”
'Jingles' also cleared the air on the issue of Edward Manqele, Eleazar Rodgers and Hlompho Kekana being loaned out and set the record straight in saying the trio are very key to his plans.
“Manqele had some injury problems, which also affected his fitness, but I'm glad that all is sorted. There has been no question about Hlompho and Eleazar's part in the team and they remain key to my plans"
“There are some of those few players, who have not enjoyed regular game time with us, and I feel it will only be fair to loan them to clubs where they will play regular football”
"We want to keep Teko Modise and Katlego Mphela, and I know that they want to stay with us as well"
