Ajax beat Chippa in the Vincent Baatjies Reserve League
A goal by Keagan Dolly early in the first half was enough to secure Ajax Cape Town a 1-0 win over Chippa United in a Vincent Baatjies Reserve League game at the Philippi Stadium on Monday.
The game, played in windy conditions was an evenly contested affair with both teams creating chances to score.
The AjaxCT midfield of Dolly, Shaba and Bantu Mqandu controlled the pace of the game and gave their counterparts no space to operate.
After Dolly scored, Chippa United searched for a quick response however they were denied by Stefan Van Neel and his defenders marshalled by Taariq Fillies at centre-back.
The game became physical as time wore on as the players challenged for every loose-ball.
In the second half Chippa United pressed forward with more urgency, creating four or five scoring chances but poor finishing denied the home side.
Their best chance emanated from the boot of James Okwousa who dribbled his way through the Ajax midfield into the penalty area only to fire his shot against the crossbar.
AjaxCT weathered a late surge from Chippa United to seal the win.
The Urban Warriors play their next game against Vasco da Gama, next Monday, Jan 28 2013, k/o at 17h00.
