AjaxCT holiday clinic concludes
We’ve come to the end of the Ajax Cape Town October 2014 Holiday
Clinics, where Ikamva was yet again filled with young and excited
footballers from all over Cape Town.
Monday and Tuesday saw kids between the ages of 6 and 10, while
Wednesday and Thursday we had the boys between the ages of 10 and 15. An
average of 45 kids per day were involved at the Ajax Cape Town October
2014 Holiday Clinics at Ikamva.
Children all the way from Khayelitsha and Langa got to interact with kids from Clifton, which doesn’t happen very often.
For most of these kids, to be at Ikamva is an opportunity for them
and their parents to be in a world class environment and for their kids
to play on a world class football field. It was a getaway from the
couch, from PlayStation games and from the violent streets.
It’s motivating for parents to promote this initiative by
encouraging their children to participate on a regular basis. For the
parents who worked during the day, it was trustful to leave their kids
in the hands of Ajax Cape Town, likewise all the children were all
treated equally, with love, care and respect.
The kids were provided with snacks and lunch during lunch-time.
They got to wear the full Ajax kit, the smiles couldn’t go away.
After all of the drills and training matches were complete, the
participants gathered in the Ajax Cape Town presentation area. This is
where the kids received goodie bags and their certificate of
participation, and at the same time, they got to associate with the PSL
players.
“Soccer has the power to bring people together. The kids’ reaction
with Ajax is repeatable. When we give them the opportunity to put on an
Ajax shirt, that means the world to them, it’s like giving them the key
to open a door to a dream,” Ajax Cape Town Community Scheme
Coordinator, Riyaad Khan, told Ajaxct.com
Ajax Cape Town is proud to have hosted another success Holiday
Clinic, we wish to see you again next year in another round of
fascinating football.
