Dlamini brace downs Stars
AmaZulu returned to winning ways in the Absa Premiership when they defeated Platinum Stars 2-0 at the Princess Magogo Stadium on Wednesday night.
Goodman Dlamini broke the deadlock early in the first half before completing his brace in the dying seconds of the match.
Dlamini opened the scoring in the eighth minute when he pounced on a loose box on the edge of the penalty area to beat Siyabonga Mpontshane will a well-placed low strike.
Ayanda Dlamini could have doubled the lead in the 21st minute after he caught Tshepo Gumede in possession before running into the box, but his shot was blocked by Mpontshane.
The visitors then had two good opportunities to find the equaliser but Ngele volleyed over the crossbar in the 31st minute, while his free kick was saved by Aubrey Mathibe three minutes later.
Both sides then had good opportunities just before the break but Issa Sarr was denied by the upright in the 38th minute, while Njabulo Manqana drew a great save from Mpontshane at the other end a minute later.
Usuthu got the ball into the back of the net in the 55th minute through Lunga Zondi but the goal was disallowed for offside, while Njabulo Manqana fired a tame shot at Mpontshane two minutes later.
Dikwena then fired two shots on target but Mathibe made two good saves to stop a shot from Thabiso Semenya in the 58th minute, before denying Lindokuhle Mbatha at the near post a minute later.
The best opportunity fell for former Usuthu player Sibusiso Hadebe in the 70th minute, but yet again it was Mathibe who made the crucial stop.
Substitute Bongani Ndulula then fired straight at the goalkeeper from Marc Van Heerden's cross in the 90th minute but Goodman made no mistake from a quick break four minutes later, slotting the ball into the bottom corner from the right.
