Bay Hill Cup fixtures
The 25th edition of the Metropolitan Premier Cup was launched at a
lavish function hosted at the Two Oceans Aquarium, V&A Waterfront
last night.
Delegates from SAFA, The City, Metropolitan, Adidas, Rylurx IT, the Tournament Committee, participating teams and their captains as well as members of the local media attended the event.
The Metropolitan under 19 Premier Cup, arguably South Africa’s most prestigious under 19 tournament, attracts some 30 000 supporters from local communities over the Easter weekend. It evolved from a community youth initiative started by Bayhill Football Club in 1988, with 16 teams playing over two days, to its current format today.
Erica Park, Belhar, will once again play host to the Metropolitan under 19 Premier Cup, which this year celebrates its 25th anniversary. The event, which takes place from 27 March – 1 April, will see 32 teams from across South Africa compete over six days, culminating in a nail-biting final on Easter Monday.
After the speeches, the Tournament committee introduced the 32 participating teams and explained the format of the draw as well as that of the tournament.
The draw was conducted amid sighs of relief and gasps of excitement as competing teams were selected for their respective groups.
The final draw is as follows;
Group A: Chippa United, Transnet School of Excellence, RC Athletico FC, Bothasig
Group B: Bayhill United, Milano United, Stars of Africa (Gauteng), Berea Albion
Group C:, University of Pretoria (TUKS), Santos , Evertonians, Masidlale
Group D: Bidvest Wits, Swallows PE, Blue Down Spurs, Immortals Sports Academy
Group E: Ajax Cape Town, Harmony Academy, Atlantis Leeds, Belhar Spurs
Group F: Supersport United, Vasco Da Gama, Cape Town All Stars , Umgunglundlovu FC
Group G: Kaizer Chiefs, Morgenster United, Mpumalanga Black Aces, Hanover Park
Group H: Mamelodi Sundowns, Segra Football Academy (Nigeria), Old Mutual Academy, ASD Cape Town
