Jomo Cosmos new team
The Jomo Cosmos Technical team has released a list of 38 players
expectedto prosecute this season’s NFD campaign, which kicks off in
August.
According to Ezenkosi’s spokesman Lucky Mhlathe who spoke on behalf of
management, the signing of players is still an on-going process, but
however, the current list forms the core of players to represent Cosmos
in the new season.
“Yes, there might still be room for a couple more players but at the
moment the 38-man squad is our authentic list for now,” Mhlathe said.
So far 12 players have been signed on since the team resumed for
pre-season on July 2, and similarly a number of tired legs have been
offloaded to pave way for new incoming talent.
Amongst players who have made their exits is veteran forward Alton
Meiring, centre back Sello Moses Matete, Zimbabwean attacker Alois
Ngwerume and midfielder McDonald Nhlapo.
The trio of left back Tsietsi Makwanazi, midfielder Mbulelo Strydom and
right back Vincent Kobola were also let go in a rebuilding process aimed
at ushering in a new look Cosmos.
Meanwhile dashing winger Lazarus Kaimbi has since returned to Thailand
where he spent part of last season on loan, and will not be a part of
Ezenkosi’s set up this term.
The current squad includes newly-signed aspiring goalkeeper from the
Vaal, Tsatsi Theletsane who incidentally, is a cousin to midfield
sensation Bongani “Shuffle” Theletsane. The 20-year-old is making his
debut in the NFD this season.
