Arwuah ready for the Celtic challenge
New Bloemfontein Celtic recruit John Arwuah is excited to have joined Phunya Sele Sele and, he says he is looking forward to contributing to the success of the club.
The Ghananian international joined Celtic from SuperSport United last
month in a swap deal which saw ex-Celt Clifford Mulenga going the
opposite direction.
“It feels great to be part of Bloemfontein Celtic family. Celtic are one
of the biggest clubs in the PSL. If you can take Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando
Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United; the next team you can
mention is Celtic. So I believe I have made the right choice joining
them,” Arwuah tells bloemfonteincelticfc.co.za.
“When the management of the club told me they were interested in me I
didn’t think twice. I just told myself that I should take this
opportunity. I’ve always liked Celtic’s style of play and the way they
keep possession of the ball. Unlike other clubs that prefer direct
football, Celtic make build-ups from the back and move forward with the
ball. They don’t just play long balls from the keeper to the strikers.
I’ve seen a couple of their games and have also played against them,” he
says.
“I have always been fond of Celtic. I can’t wait to make my debut in
front of their supporters. Their supporters are the best in South Africa
and they are the other reason I agreed to join Celtic. There is nothing
nicer than playing in front of a big crowd. Players are always
motivated playing in full houses. What I’ve heard is that the club is
aiming for a top four finish next season. So I’ll be happy to help them
achieve that goal. If possible we can challenge for the League honours,”
he adds.
Arwuah, who will be turning 27 on September 1, says he is enjoying life in Bloemfontein.
“I like it here. The Bloemfontein people have been good to me since I
arrived in the city. They always greet me with a smile and It feels
great to be part of them. Hopefully I will continue to enjoy my stay in
the Free State.” he says with a smile.
