Mahamutsa not happy yet

Defender Rooi Mahamutsa insists that despite being in fine form in the African Champions League, it will be important that the squad remains humble as they seek to advance to the semi-final of this prestigeous tournament.

The hard-tackling defender said that for now, it will be important to focus on getting maximum points in their two away matches, something that would automatically guarantee Bucs a passage to the semi-finals of this prestigious event.

“Look, I think Zamalek is a great side despite losing to us on Saturday – they have not been playing in their domestic league and that knocks any team,” says the Standerton born defender.

“Even the greatest teams need to get some tough competition - what they are going through in their country is sad, but football is football – we played against them and beat them so... I think looking at how we played against them, we deserved to win the match,” insisted Mahamutsa.

Meanwhile, Coach Roger de Sa echoed Mahamutsa sentiments saying that his charges stuck to the game plan which eventually gave them a victory.

“Those guys (Zamalek) are a good side – they have won this tournament five times and we did it once. Even though they are going through tough times in their country, they still showed some good football; they even levelled the score at 1-1, so, they came here to win but I think we were on top of game and convincingly beat them,” he said.

Bucs will travel to Egypt towards the end of the month for the return leg against Zamaleke, scheduled for August 1st in Cairo.
