Ajax Cape Town enters a New Era

Ajax Cape Town will begin a new era this week with the Efstathiou brothers gaining full control of the day to day management of the club.

The Efstathiou brothers are now at the helm of Cape Town Stars Pty Ltd, the 49% shareholder of Ajax Cape Town. The Efstathiou brothers, Ari, Nick and Alexi bring profound insights to the club and its challenges as they have been involved with Ajax Cape Town from its inception in 1999.

Ari Efstathiou said, “We have been involved in the transformation of local football from the time we acquired Cape Town Spurs with the Comitis brothers.”

In 1999 an agreement between Cape Town Stars Pty Ltd and Ajax Amsterdam resulted in the amalgamation of Seven Stars and Cape Town Spurs to form Ajax Cape Town and the rest they say is history.

Efstathiou continued, “We are very excited at the possibilities that lie ahead for Ajax Cape Town. This club has been in our hearts since its inception and we have always envisioned great things for Ajax Cape Town. We are confident that now that the boardroom issues have been resolved we can focus on building the club and taking it to the places it deserves to be.

We are fortunate to have a committed team: both with respect to our players, our fans and our staff whose passion and belief in Ajax Cape Town both inspire and encourage us. With the support of our sponsors MTN, Adidas and Old Mutual we have no doubt that we can achieve our dreams. Our focus and ambition remains to be one of the top four clubs in the country and our policy of “No Youth No Future” is still paramount in our objectives.

Our immediate objective to bring stability to the club and we are proud to announce that the services of Muhsin Ertugral have been secured for the next three years. The credentials of Muhsin are well known, and he has delivered for Ajax Cape Town before. We can assure you that he will continue to do so.

The focus can now be where it needs to be, on the team and ensuring our success. It’s a new era for local football and Ajax Cape Town, and we are confident that the Urban Warriors will continue to contribute positively to the South African football landscape.”
