Booth leaves Ajax Cape Town

Ajax Cape Town will be without the services of Matthew Booth after the player decided not to take up the clubs offer on the extension of his contract. Booth’s contract comes to an end in June, and he has duly informed the club of his decision not to accept their offer.

George Comitis the AjaxCT CEO said, “We are disappointed to lose the services of Matthew Booth. He played a crucial role in ensuring our survival in the relegation battle. Matthew was a leader on and off the field, and he will be missed in the dressing room at Ikamva. We offered Matthew Booth another year on his contract however due to family commitments he decided against taking up our offer.

He indicated that he would like to stay with his family in Johannesburg and whether he plays for another club or not is his decision to make. We would like to thank Matthew for his effort and commitment to the club and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”

Booth made his AjaxCT debut on Nov 18, 2011 against Supersport United, and played 40 games for the Urban Warriors, scoring five goals.
