AmaZulu and Man City tickets on Sale

Tickets for the Nelson Mandela Day Football Invitational International friendly between AmaZulu and Manchester City will go on sale early next week, the event organizers announced at a press conference on Thursday.

The match to be played at Moses Mabhida Stadium is earmarked to draw spectators from around South Africa in the spirit of the former statesman’s birthday on 18 July 2013.

“Tickets again will be exactly the same price as last year where we had tickets for R150, R250 and R350. “Our objective here is not so much about football but it is to be able to take the legacy of Nelson Mandela to the entire world and to each one of us to be mindful of the 60 minute.”

“If we don’t embrace that message, we are failing in our task more than just simply having a good game of football and we’d like everybody to take that to heart and do something for the community," said Lyndon Barends, Executive Chairman Matchworld.

AmaZulu PR & Communications Manager, Philani Mabaso, said the KZN team’s participation in the Durban leg of the Mandela Day match, will present Usuthu head coach Craig Rosslee with a chance to blood in his new signings.

“We are excited as a brand because this presents us with an opportunity to grow our brand. “If you look at Man City, they’ve got great players that could attract a lot of supporters as we all know that Durban is a football loving nation,” said Mabaso.

The Manuel Pelligrini-mentored English giants will also conduct social responsibility programmes in collaboration with the Ethekwini Municipality and AmaZulu. Much like last year when Usuthu played current English Premiership champions Manchester United in Durban, this year’s tour will see Manchester City play SuperSport United as second opponents on 14 July 2013.

The tour has the blessings of both the City of Tshwane and Ethekwini Municipality, and both metros will be hoping to boost their local tourism industries.
