AmaZulu new jersey

Fitting with the 80 year old milestone Usuthu have announced a series of exciting events as well as a special new kit and logo for the upcoming 2012/13 season at a press conference held at Suncoast Casino in Durban.
At the media briefing AmaZulu General Manager, Peter O’Connor confirmed the club directors have set their site on improving on last season’s position with special mention of garnering for the top 4 league position, and winning one cup competition.

Also in the cards in the next coming weeks as a part of the 80th celebrations is a visit to his Majesty King Goodwill Zwelithini at the Enyokeni Royal Palace, a special gala dinner, and a possible friendly match against Asante Kotoko of Ghana in September.

Technical sponsors Adidas have taken it back to where it all began as the newly unveiled home kit kept its traditional green look with white trimmings while the away kit is a more striking royal blue with green sleeves.

“What we’ve tried to do is design a jersey which tells a story about where the club has come from and where it is now,” explained the club’s Marketing Manager, Lunga Sokhela.

“The royal blue represents the original colours that the club donned in 1932 when it was presented to King Solomon kaDinizulu. Later when the club was renamed from Zulu Royals to AmaZulu Football Club, the colours changed from royal blue to bottle green which is what we have on the sleeves.”

Both jerseys spot a special 80th anniversary logo which AmaZulu will use for the duration of the first round (December 2012). Next week new coach Roger Palmgren will officially announce his pre-season plans and unveil his new signings for the upcoming season.
