PSL CEO: Bafana will do us proud
Brand de Villiers, PSL Chief Executive
Officer, said the current generation of Bafana Bafana players is capable of
reclaiming the glorious day at the Africa Cup of Nations.
The PSL CEO wished Bafana Bafana luck
ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations opening game against the tricky and highly
rated Algerians.
De Villiers, however, believes that
Bafana, though regarded as underdogs in what has been described as the ‘Group
of Death’ with Algeria, Ghana and Senegal, they can rise to the occasion.
“We have a challenging Group in the
tournament but we have a team that shows hunger and dedication. I appeal to all
football fans to rally behind the national team and support the players. On
behalf of the PSL and its members, I would like to wish the team good luck.
We
will be fully behind them as they carry our flag in Equatorial Guinea,” the PSL
CEO said.
De Villiers added: “The success of
Bafana Bafana is important to the PSL – it puts our country and our league in
the spotlight. We know that the majority of the players selected by the coach
ply their trade in the Premier Soccer League. Bafana Bafana’s success is also
our success.”
