Sundowns move six clear

Mamelodi Sundowns moved six points clear at the top of the Absa Premiership after a 1-0 win away to Moroka Swallows at the Dobsonville Stadium on Saturday evening.

Teko Modise struck a superb goal in the seventh minute that proved to be the difference between the teams.

The win is the Brazilians’ ninth in a row and opens up clear daylight between them and second-placed Kaizer Chiefs, who however have two games in hand.

As for the Birds, it is a fourth successive defeat and a 10^th loss from 14 league matches since the turn of the year. They remain in 13^th, six points clear of the relegation zone.

Sundowns will next be in league action when they host Tshwane rivals SuperSport United in a week’s time, while Swallows are away to Polokwane City the following day.
