NFD kickoff this weekend
The National First Division is set to start
this upcoming weekend after it was put on hold because of disagreement with the
PSL, which meant that the clubs boycotted the fixtures until things were
resolved
Last week the PSL announced that they have
reach an agreement with the NFD, which meant that the fixture could start this
week.
There are six games to be played this
weekend starting on Saturday when Jomo Cosmos will be hosting Witbank Spurs.
Cosmos return to the NFD after been
relegated from the PSL last season while Spurs will try to have a better season
after they finished 13th on the log. The game will be played at
Johannesburg Stadium and kick-off is at 15:30.
Blackburn Rovers are set to entertain
Thanda Royal Zulu at Buffalo City Stadium kick-off is at 18:00. Thanda Royal
Zulu were knocked out of the PSL play off after finishing third of the log.
This coming season they’ll be looking to do one better. Rovers on the other had
were very disappointed with they fourth place finish after having amongst the
top teams in the NFD for the must part of the season.
The late game on Saturday will be former
PSL side Santos playing against
Mpumalanga Black Aces at Athlone Stadium at
19:30. Santos will be looking to make sure they start the season well with a
victory meanwhile Aces will be hoping that they have a better season this time
around after finishing 14th place last season.
Sunday will see F.C A.K playing FC Cape
Town at Makhulong Stadium, after an impressing end to the season F.C A.K will
be hoping to continue with the good form which saw them finish 5th
place. FC Cape Town will be looking to regroup after having a bad end to the
season, which saw them finish eighth place.
African Warriors will welcome Sivutsa Stars
at Charles Mopeli Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The two-side meet on the last
day of the season where it was a five-goal thriller with Warriors winning the
game 3-2. Warriors finished 6th
place last season while Stars finish 12th place.
Milano United and United FC will conclude
the weekend’s NFD fixtures. Milano will be playing they first game at home
against United FC at Wynberg Military Stadium. United last season finished 9th
place on the log.
Roses United and Vasco Da Gama have a bay
this weekend, while Bay United, Carara Kicks and Dynamos case is still pending
and final judgment hasn’t been made yet.
