Middendorp happy with United squad
Maritzburg United have had a great start to the season. Coach Ernst
Middendorp believes having a small squad has contributed to the hunger
and wiliness to fight for the club.
"We set down with the club and we were able to see which players are able to move with the club. We had the feeling to change the club and challenge ourselves.
The Team Of Choice have brought the likes of Mthokozisi Yende, Delron Buckley and Ruben Cloete to try and balance the club in the different department.
"We try to find players that will have hunger and players that has experience but not only playing youngsters. The players are able to give us a lot moving forward.
The German born coach says that its very important for Maritzburg United to stay in the top eight at all times this season and doesn't want to say were we'll like the team to finish come end of the season.
"To say that we must be in position 7,6,8 for me its more about having this start and be able to be inside the top eight. With so many points we have collected home and away now already, if you look back to 2009\10 season I think we have never picked so many points so far."
Maritzburg next PSL match will be against log leaders Kaizer Chiefs at Harry Gwala Stadium. Last season United had an impressive results against Chiefs collecting four points in both league fixtures.
