Cape Town Stadium to host Nedbank Final

 On the 19th of May 2018, all eyes will be set on the Mother City as, for the first time in the history of the Nedbank Cup, Cape Town will experience the exciting Nedbank green fever.
On Thursday night, the Premier Soccer League together with Nedbank confirmed that the Cape Town Stadium will be the battle ground for the title decider of the 2018 Nedbank Cup final.

Cape Town Stadium is one of the stadiums built for the 2010 FIFA World Cup and the structure of the stadium provides an epic experience for spectators. Having been designed with a roof that resembles a bicycle wheel, the stadium is flanked by Table Mountain, Robben Island as well as the Atlantic Ocean, giving it a rather dramatic setting. The announcement of the Nedbank Cup final venue marks the official countdown to the much-anticipated final on 19 May 2018.

PSL acting Chief Executive, Mato Madlala said: Cape Town football supporters have been asking for an opportunity to watch a cup final in their backyard for some time now and we are excited to bring a major cup final to Cape Town Stadium. This is in line with the commitment made by the League to utilize the stadiums build for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. This is not just an opportunity to watch a football match but a chance for fans to be part of an experience.

Facing a gruelling journey to reach the quarterfinals, the remaining eight Clubs are currently in the running to be crowned the 2018 Nedbank Cup victors and will have Cape Town at the back of their minds as they prepare themselves for the last couple of battles ahead of the final.
The 2018 Nedbank Cup has produced enthralling encounters and once again delivered top-quality football.
Bragging rights are not the only thing up for grabs, the winner of this year’s edition will be walking away with a heart-stopping R7 million cash prize. In addition, the champions will also get to flex their muscles against the 2018 Ke Yona Team – a group of unearthed South African talent that will be relishing the opportunity to showcase their skills on the biggest footballing stage for non-professional players.

The clubs that have qualified for the quarterfinals are:  Ubuntu Cape Town, Free State Stars, Bloemfontein Celtic, Kaizer Chiefs, Maritzburg United, Baroka FC, Mamelodi Sundowns and Cape Town City FC.
