Ajax Cape Town sign Koen Van de Laak

Koen Van de Laak has signed on the dotted line and he is set to wear the red and white of Ajax Cape Town in the new season.

George Comitis the Ajax CEO said, “We concluded the deal with Koen van de Laak last night.

We have reached agreement with the player and his agent, and Koen arrived in Cape Town earlier this week to finalise the deal.

The player and his fiancée is in Cape Town to get familiar with the Mother City, prior to their big move.”

Van de Laak is a central midfielder who played for FC Groningen until March 29, 2012 when his contract expired.

He started his professional football career at FC Den Bosch in 2000 before making the move to FC Groningen in 2007 and played there until 2012.

In his first year playing for FC Groningen they finished fifth in the league and managed to qualify for the UEFA Cup for the 2006–07 season.  He captained the side in the 2009–10.

Shooz Mekuto said, “Koen trained with the Urban Warriors late last season and he is familiar with his teammates and the club’s style of play.”
