Stars book top eight return
Platinum Stars eased past Ajax Cape Town 3-0 at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace on Saturday to seal a top eight place for next season.
Dikwena brushed aside their opponents after goals from Mogakolodi Ngele, Robert Ng’ambi and Mduduzi Nyanda and made sure they will have the opportunity to retain the MTN8 title they won earlier this season.
Stars had started the weekend outside of the top eight, but AmaZulu’s loss at Kaizer Chiefs gave them the chance to leapfrog Usuthu and finish in eighth place.
Ajax’s dismal season closed with a whimper as they dropped a place to finish in 12th.
Ajax only managed three shots of any worth all game as they were played off the park.
Ngele opened the scoring with a neat finish on 17 minutes to set Stars on their way and it was 2-0 seven minutes before the break as Ng’ambi confirmed his place as Dikwena’s leading scorer with a 12th of the season in all competitions.
It was more of the same after the break and after the home side were awarded a free-kick on 77 minutes, Nyanda blasted the ball home.
