Teyise brace blunts Arrows

Defender Tamsanqa Teyise scored a brace as AmaZulu defeated city rivals Lamontville Golden Arrows 3-0 in their Absa Premiership encounter at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Mondayafternoon.

Goodman Dlamini also scored his third goal of the season as Usuthu proved to be too strong for the hosts in the first half.

Usuthu opened the scoring in the sixth minute when Arrows failed to deal with a cross from Kulegani Madondo, allowing Teyise to head home at the far post.

Arrows came close to equalising seven minutes later but Philani Shange shot wide after making a great run into the box on the right.

The hosts were punished for their hesitation at the back in the 22nd minute when Goodman Dlamini volleyed home from the edge of the box after he was set up by Bongani Ndulula.

Nine minutes later Lucky Nguzana stung Tapuwa Kapini’s palms with a solid strike from the left side of the box, but none of his teammates were able to capitalise on the rebound.

AmaZulu scored their third goal of the goal of the match as Teyise crept in at the far post again to head Njabulo Manqana’s freekick into the back of the net.

Arrows then had two chances early in the second half but Shange was denied by a good save from Kapini from close range in the 51st minute, before the AmaZulu goalkeeper kept his dangerous free kick out five minutes later.

Then in the 60th minute substitute Lebogang Mothibantwa sent his first time shot just over the crossbar, while Ayanda Dlamini also failed to hit the target at the other end five minutes later following a solo run.

Shange tried to find a consolation goal for the home side in the 79th minute but yet again he was unable to beat Kapini, who parried the ball back into play to keep a clean sheet.
