Zeca Marques: We managed to fix up our disaster

Moroka Swallows coach Zeca Marques has given credit to his defenders for not conceding any goal in the last three league games. The 1-0 victory over Black Leopards on Tuesday made sure that Moroka Swallows go three games without considering any goals, which is a achievement for Zeca Marques team who have conceded the third most goals in the league this season with 33 goals.

Zeca Marques is now happy that things have change and the players are responding to his technical instructions on the field of play.

“The confidence is high, we have won three in row, we played well, and we defended extremely well. We haven’t conceded any gaols obviously that builds confidence and that’s a huge boost for us , from consistence perspective and from a belief that we can do better and I thinks this results have been huge,” Marques said.

“To be honest that the biggest satisfaction knowing we can now score goals and not concede like in the past we will score but we were conceding so basically that wasn’t helping anything.

“Now if we don’t concede a goal we have a chance of scoring and that to me is a huge step into a right direction. We managed to fix up our disaster which was conceding goals and that makes me more then happy because now we always are in with a chance at any game.

"I'm delighted with the players because they’ve taken to the technical approach they are starting to believe. We work hard at training to put thing to prospective and now is getting into the park, so I think it goes well with the future.

"The team dynamics are there we becoming defensive solid, in the midfield now we got same energy with Sibusiso khumalo coming in. I talk to my players and I keep telling them and reminding them that I want to make this Swallows team to compete with the best and we are getting to that stage now.

The partnership of Larry Cohen and Roger Da Costa has prove to be very instrumental for the side and Zeca Marques agrees that the two center backs has done wonders at the back.

“It must been put down to two players, Larry and Costa coming on board they have toughen things up. We are more aggressive and the high balls we are much stronger, we compete and have non-nonsense approach at the back.

"Also the type of players we are playing with now, Lefa Tsutsulupa and Sibusiso Kumalo have also added to the defensive role and now we are defending with six players and we are solid, concluded Zaca Marques.

Swallows will be without Roger Da Costa who is suspended for the game against Bidvest Wits tonight.
