McCarthy: It’s draining and stressful

Cape Town City once again failed to pass the first round of the cup competition this season.

City were beaten 4-2 on penalties by Kaizer Chiefs at the Cape Town Stadium on Saturday afternoon this when the game finished 1-1 after regular time.

This was the second time Cape Town City were knocked-out in first around after they were beaten 2-0 by Polokwane City in the MTN 8 early in the season.
McCarthy admitted that his side has not done enough to want to win trophies again.

“It’s draining and stressful but at the end of the day the players must want to win it with all they heart,“said the City head coach.

“I think we have not done enough to want to win the MTN 8 again. It was easy just because we done it last season so you don’t want that experience again.TheTelkom it was the same last season we went out first round this season and again we went out first round. “

Cape Town City coach also feels that the players need to have the desire for success and strive to be better people in the eyes of the younger society.

“It’s far too easy and as much you try to apply change to the players mind set and plan to change players thinking and not just about success that come with it but also about the money,” he said.

“At the end of the day that is what you play for, you play for success and you play to be a role model for the younger society.

“But the main the ultimate goal is to have a better life and to make money and win cups, you get to get bonuses and we don’t seem to want that at the moment,” he concluded.
