Betway partners with Maimane Phiri in MAP Games

After completing his six-month journey with Betway through the inaugural Betway 12th Man programme, former Bafana Bafana player, Maimane Phiri has wasted no time in implementing his newly found skills.

Phiri was part of the 10 former footballers that graduated from the programme that included various modules to help him improve his annual Maimane Phiri Games in Alexandra.

The popular community games have become even more popular in their 18th year, attracting hordes of fans from neighbouring townships which has required the organisers to improve their event organising skills.

Fortunately for Phiri, the Betway 12th Man programme came at just the right time for his tournament.  Amongst other modules within the six-month period, Financial and Project Management have been the key take-out for the Alexandra-born star.

“As the tournament continues to grow in stature, it is important that we also improve ourselves in terms of event management.  Attending the Betway 12th Man programme has opened my eyes to various ways of improving the quality and standard of the games. The project management module is what stood out for me as an event organiser and it has been instrumental in assisting me attract more sponsors and stakeholders to the tournament” said Phiri.

Betway also come on board as sponsors of the tournament. The leading sport betting company had various activations in and around the Alexandra Stadium where fans won exciting prizes from the Betway kiosks.

In addition, the leading sports betting company sponsored the playing kit of the quarter-finalists as well as the tournament trophy and medals for the final.
