Vosloorus to host first ever derby festival

After two successful seasons of MultiChoice Diski Challenge “Derby Festivals” staged at different communities across the country, Vosloorus are the latest recipients to host the prestigious Diski Festival.

The derby festival will be played on Saturday, 17 November and Sunday, 18 November 2018 at Vosloorus Stadium. Kick-off is at 10h00 on both days.

The first derby festivals was introduced by the Premier Soccer League and MultiChoice with Daveyton being the first host followed by Umlazi in KwaZulu Natal last season.

When the clubs clash this weekend at Vosloorus Stadium, not only three points will be at stake but rivalry will be played out in its purest form and with but one glorious prize at stake—Pride!
Clubs that will be playing this weekend are; AmaZulu FC, Lamontville Golden Arrows (KZN Derby); Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United (Tshwane Derby); Baroka FC and Polokwane City (Polokwane Derby); Free State Stars and Bloemfontein Celtic (Free State Derby) and lastly Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates (Soweto Derby).

Bloemfontein Celtic will be a team to watch during this Festival when they battle against their rivals Free State Stars. Celtic are currently second place on the log behind Cape Town City. Both teams on 16 points.

Bloemfontein Celtic coach Abram Nteo said: “A derby brings excitement to the players and the fans but what’s important for us it to maintain our winning ways.

We know it’s not going to be easy, it’s always difficult when these two teams clash. Our aim for this derby is to convert the chances we will get and maintain our performance”.

The last time these two teams met in the derby festival, Bloemfontein Celtic were victorious against Free State Stars by 3-1.

All Diski Challenge matches will be broadcast live on SuperSport 4 (DStv channel 204) and SuperSport 10 (DStv channel 210) and on community TV channels available on DStv.
Entry is free for this festival and ticket collection starts on Thursday and Friday from 13h00 till 18h00 at Vosloorus Stadium at the ticket office. Only 2 tickets per person, per day.
