Pirates injury update

With the Orlando Pirates entering the third week of their mid-season training camp ahead of the resumption of the local football scene next month, Orlandopiratesfc.com caught up with John Williams, the club Physiotherapist for an injury update.

“There are currently five injured players in the camp,” revealed Williams. “Fortunately none of these injuries are serious which is a good thing for us.”

“Shakes has removed his cast. He had fractured his 1st metatarsal of his right foot; his foot was in plats for six weeks. He started to train on his own on Monday last week as part of his rehabilitation and is expected to start training with the rest of the team in three to four weeks’ time.”

Lennox Bacela

“Lennox suffered a grade 2 tear of his medial collateral ligament of his knee. He has since recovered and is undergoing rehabilitation with Japhet Borges – the fitness trainer. Japhet will advise on when Lennox can rejoin the rest of the team.
 
Thandani Ntshumayelo

“Bibo had an adductor muscle injury in his hip but he has fully recovered and has since rejoined the rest of the team for full training.”
 
Daine Klate

“Klatey has a grade 2 tear rectus abdominas muscle and will be out for another 1-2 weeks. We have advised him not to train at all for now.”
 
Patrick Phungwayo

“Patrick came back from Bafana Bafana with a strain of his MCL (Medial Cruciate Ligament). He should be back at training in about 10 days’ time. He is currently on a gym training program.”
