Versleijen: We play to get the three points

Ajax Cape Town coach Jan Versleijen is feeling the pressure of getting his first win since he joined Ajax at the beginning of the year. The Dutch man has been in charge of four league games and has draw three games and lost one game.

Versleijen says that now its time for his side to play for three points cause that’s going to be the only way for them to get out of the relegation zone.

“We play to get the three points because three points can lift us in a better position, now we are in between of winning and losing can be a big deference,” says Versleijen.

“This will help us if we could win a game, also you can play a draw then have a good game, so we trying to look at the positive out of that. We need to win games then getting draws isn’t enough. We don’t have time to waste our time is to get points.”

Ajax Cape Town is well known for playing the Dutch philosophy but this season looks like the team hasn’t found that rhythm which has seen team been in the bottom two of the log table.

Jan Versleijen knows that the team needs points but says that he wont rush into changing anything because that will take the objective away on how they should play and the players will need to show they quality in the field of play.

“We need the points and the biggest challenge and the biggest task is to collect points but you have to do that with the quality of the players. So we cant say now that we going to change our style of play and play with one striker and one player behind the striker and just kicking long balls because that will bring us nothing. In the long term that won’t bring us anything and also short term you’ll change too much."

We have to find way were we still play our own style but we have tweak a little bit with your own style to make it more competitive and make more related on getting the results.”
